On the 16th of April, we held our OFFICIAL OPEN DAY for our BRAND NEW OFFICE!
We invited all of our care staff, service users, sister companies and CEO of our parent company (Clece Care Services), Miguel! We had a fantastic turn out, and had a fabulous time speaking to some of our service users and our incredibly hard working care staff – we want to thank everybody who came along and made the day so special.
We also held a raffle in support of Marie Curie, with prizes such as; a lovely bath set and slippers, a bottle of prosecco, and even an extra days annual leave! We raised an OUTSTANDING £185 for the amazing charity; Marie Curie is the #1 leading end-of-life care charity, supporting those (and their loved ones) in their last days, weeks or even months of life. This is a charity that is extremely close to us here at MCJA, providing support to not only our service users, but also to the loved ones of many of our staff members.
What do the Marie Curie charity do?
The Marie Curie charity provide a number of services to those who are at the end of their life, to promote independence for as long as possible and ensure that the individual is comfortable towards the end of their life. They provide a range of services, such as; companionship, personal care, bereavement support to families, managing symptoms, discussing care plans and ensuring the needs of the individual are met, hospice care at home.
They are the leading end-of-life care charity in the UK, but without donations, they are unable to provide these services to those in need.
How do our donations help Marie Curie?
There are a number of ways you can donate to the Marie Curie charity, such as; leaving a direct donation to their JustGiving page/website, fundraising at a planned event (or plan your own!), or even leaving the charity in your will.
Here’s how your donations can help:
- £23 – pays for one hour of vital nursing care for someone with a terminal illness in their own home.
- £100 – pays for half an evenings care for someone in their own home.
- £200 – pays for nine hours of nursing care through the night for someone in their own home.
However, whatever you can give will support Marie Curie provide care for an individual at the end of their life and support their loved ones in this difficult time.
You said I can take part in fundraisers, which fundraisers are coming up?
Other than donating directly to the website/JustGiving page, you can also help fundraise by taking part in charity events, or planning your own event (which are fantastic for individuals or big groups such as schools/businesses).
There are a number of fundraisers that you can take part in, such as:
- Runs/marathons
- Walks/treks/hikes
- Cycling events
- Overseas charity events
