All About Joey – Newcomer Spotlight

Recently, we spoke to Joey, who has been a Care Assistant with ourselves for just over a week, and has already received multiple compliments from our service users and their families. Joey is already excelling at his role, providing excellent service in the community. We asked Joey a few questions about his journey with MerseyCare Julie Ann, and here is what he had to say!

Joey’s Newcomer Journey

How long have you been working for MCJA? How has your journey been so far? “I have been working in MerseyCare Julie Ann now for just over a week – I used to work with children, so I just wanted to get back into a rewarding career. Ever since I started with MCJA, all of the girls have been absolutely brilliant; Katie, Danielle, Sally, Georgia – they have all been fantastic and so incredibly helpful. The training was also fantastic. I learnt so much in the 4 days I had on the induction, and this allowed me to gain the knowledge I needed to excel in the role. After the training, I didn’t feel nervous starting, I felt prepared, and Ian (the trainer) was absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t fault him. All the team couldn’t have supported me more throughout my onboarding process.” What would you say is the most rewarding part of your role? “I would say the most rewarding part of my role is speaking to the service users – every day is different, so I get to listen to all the different stories from all the different service users and it’s lovely. I just love coming to work and I love seeing all of the service users every single day – they really remind me just how rewarding this job role is.” What would you say to somebody looking to start a career in care? “If anyone is thinking about going into care, just go for it. I honestly wish I would have done it sooner, and I don’t know why I didn’t go for it sooner. I should have done this years ago!”
