On the back of this, we are very pleased to announce that the Carer of the Year for 2024 is…..
CHELSEA GEE!
We would like to say a massive congratulations to Chelsea on this incredible achievement, along with our incredible runners up – here is a little bit about our fantastic top 5.
Chelsea Gee – Carer of the Year

Whilst Chelsea started working in care at the age of 18, Chelsea has been working for MerseyCare Julie Ann for just over 10 years, describing herself as a nurturing person who feels fulfilled in her career as a Care Assistant.
Here is what she had to say about her career in care:
“I started working in care from the age of 18 after working in the kitchens in a care home in Crosby. I knew then I wished to take on the role as a Carer, and so I applied and became a carer in the care home. I worked there for two years, then went to work in the community closer to we’re I lived. I then stayed with that company for many years before it was closed. After that, I worked in retail and found a piece of me felt missing, which led me to apply to MerseyCare Julie Ann and have been with our company for ten years. I have always been a nurturing person and enjoyed looking after family, friends and service users. I came into care as I knew I wanted to make a difference in someone’s life, be it a small smile, simply fulfilling daily duties and giving independence and dignity. Helping them achieve daily goals made me feel fulfilled and like I was making a difference; I strive to continue each day to help our service users remain at home and independent.”
George Adu-Gyamfi – Runner Up

Receiving Carer of the Month back in June, George (pictured above on the right))has been described as ‘always having a positive attitude, and is always willing to help wherever he can’, and received numerous nominations from our service users, always providing positive feedback about his care.
Millie Robinson – Runner Up
Starting with MCJA only last year (as her first care role) and receiving Carer of the Month back in October, Millie (pictured above on the left) has been described as ‘always having a good relationship with the service users, always approachable and incredibly caring’.
Lavern Husbands – Runner Up

Lavern Husbands – as one of our longest standing carers, Lavern has been described as ‘a breath of fresh air – she is an incredible staff member who knows what outstanding care looks like, and ensures to provide this with every single call’ and ‘always goes out of her way to provide the best care for service users’
Ajoke Ajayi – Runner Up
Starting with MCJA back in June 2023, Ajoke decided to start a career in care due to personal experience, caring for her grandma (‘mother hen’), alongside her family. Ajoke has been described as ‘ extremely dedicated to her role – all of her service users absolutely love her’
This is an incredible achievement for all of our incredible award winning staff – it is a fantastic achievement to be nominated in the top 5! Well done to you all – you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.
