Why choose Learning Difficulties Care

Promotes Independence and Life Skills

Home-based care empowers individuals with learning difficulties to develop and maintain essential life skills like cooking, cleaning, personal care, and money management within a familiar environment. This encourages long-term independence and self-confidence.

Personalised, One-to-One Support

Unlike in a care home where staff must support multiple residents, care at home is tailored to the individual’s unique needs, routines, and goals. Carers work closely with the person to provide consistent, personalised support at their own pace.

Familiar Environment Reduces Anxiety

For individuals with learning difficulties, routine and familiarity are key to feeling safe and secure. Being at home eliminates the stress and sensory overload that may come with communal living settings, reducing anxiety and behavioural challenges.

Encourages Family Involvement

Being cared for at home helps maintain close relationships with family and friends and allows the individual to remain an active part of their local community. This improves emotional well-being and helps reduce feelings of isolation.

Continuity of Care with Trusted Carers

At-home care services often involve a small, consistent team of carers, which helps build trust and long-term relationships. This continuity provides emotional stability and better outcomes for those who thrive on familiarity.

Family Involvement and Peace of Mind

Families can be closely involved in the individual’s life and care, supporting emotional well-being and providing reassurance. Being cared for at home makes it easier for loved ones to visit, participate, and maintain strong relationships.

Yes. We work closely with each person and their family to create a care plan that fits their routine, preferences, and aspirations. Whether it’s support in the mornings, evenings, or around specific activities, we aim to provide care that enhances independence and quality of life.

Wherever possible, we ensure consistency by assigning a small team of carers. This helps build trust and familiarity, which is especially important for people with learning difficulties who may find change difficult or unsettling.

You can get in touch with our team for a free consultation. We’ll discuss your needs, answer any questions, and create a tailored care plan. We also work with local authorities or funding bodies if care is arranged through direct payments or care packages.

Care stories

My Mother is 96 years old, and she has 3 carers each day. There are two carers, Karen and Kaisia who are wonderful. They think outside the box and go that extra step. I live 200 miles away and it puts my mind at rest when I know they are taking care of her. My Mum also calls the office if she needs to talk to them, and she always has good things to say about Donna in particular. She is always helpful and knows what she’s doing. Keep up the good work MCJA.

Bob (Son of Service User)

I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to Mary from MerseyCare Julie Ann for her care and warmth to my Dad. She has been caring for him for over 2 years. I went to see him on Friday afternoon unexpectedly just after lunch, and he had just finished eating when Mary had left him a couple of biscuits and a hot drink. It was all neatly laid out, and he was sitting comfortably and very contented. Knowing that he has such good care is hugely assuring to myself and my brother. Mary consistently goes over and above and in his words: “she is like part of the family”. In these really difficult times, and particularly for the care sector the work you do is really appreciated. It allows my Dad his independence and enables him to stay in his home – and it also has a positive impact on our wider family.

Denise (Daughter of Service User)

My mum has been having carers for the last couple of years from here. We are so happy with the care she has been given. She has 2 visits a day and we have had no problems at all. All of her carers are very supportive and helpful and do their job's amazingly.

Jackie (Daughter of Service User)

I just wanted to say how pleased we are with the carers from MerseyCare, the carer who have been supporting Mum over the last year. In particular her morning carer has gone above and beyond in the way she supports and cares for Mum and it's very much appreciated. Also, she has the ability to make Mum laugh which is so important in difficult circumstances.

Jan (Daughter of Service User)

A professional, empathic and well organised team of people who genuinely care for their clients. The admin and management team are communicative and extremely helpful and the carers are warm, kind and very efficient. I highly recommend for your loved one.
